Support Me

Make an impact in the life of a child today

When you decide to support THON™, you become a partner in the ongoing fight against childhood cancer. As part of my organizations, Club Cross Country benefiting THON and OPPerations, I am working alongside 16,500 student volunteers and over 25,000 alumni to support more than 3,700 families at Penn State Children’s Hospital to one day end the fight against childhood cancer.  Since THON’s beginning in 1973, we have raised over $168 million dollars, For The Kids™!

Four years ago, I joined the Penn State THON community when I decided to follow my sister’s footsteps. I joined the OPPerations committee responsible for set-up, maintenance and tear-down and found my family away from home. Since then, I have committed myself to this cause and now get to lead a committee as a captain this year! Through THON, I have made countless memories to last a lifetime with hundreds of incredible students committed in the fight against pediatric cancer! I am excited to take on my fourth and final THON in February!

While getting involved with Club Cross Country’s efforts in pursuit of a cure, I have gotten the chance to support three amazing Four Diamond families: the Carter’s, Fisher’s, and Kaufman’s. Getting the opportunity to meet these families impacted by pediatric cancer has made a lasting impact on my life and has inspired me to get more involved with this philanthropy. This past October, we celebrated 11 year old Gideon Fisher’s last treatment after over three years on this journey. Seeing Gid’s relentless energy through this whole process while continuing to enjoy his childhood has been remarkable to watch. I THON because every kid deserves to live out their childhood dreams and no family should have to hear the words “Your child has cancer”. THON and its partnership with Four Diamonds does so much to help support these families and provide hope and support in a time when they need it most. Through Penn State and Four Diamond’s efforts, hundreds of families have had every medical bill paid for in addition to supporting funding for critical cancer research.

These past four years at Penn State, I have been blessed by the experiences this university has given me. Nothing compares to the magical sensation that is THON weekend, a time to forget about all worries and let kids be kids as we celebrate life while remembering those we lost along the way. It is a culmination of a year long commitment to fundraising and supporting the families...the countless hours spent canning, ribboning, attending meetings, and running in Miles for Smiles. THON has given me moments I will cherish forever and friends for life, I ask that you support me in this mission so that one day we can dance in celebration!
