YOU could be the reason a child gets the chance to grow up...
Choosing to support THON™means choosing to help the ongoing fight against childhood cancer. My organization, Club Cross Country, works year-round alongside other Penn State organizations to fundraise and support over 3,700 families at Penn State Children's Hospital. With the help of the Four Diamonds Fund, families can focus on the health of their child and not worry about a single hospital bill. The Four Diamonds fosters hope in not only these families, but the entire world with its contributions in funding pediatric cancer research!
Why do I THON? I was introduced to the idea of THON as a middle schooler when my big sister got involved here at Penn State. The impact and importance of THON became clear to me when a fellow Cross Country runner and classmate, Cameron Evans, was diagnosed with Leukemia in the eighth grade. Cameron's diagnosis was eye opening to the devastation pediatric cancer brings to children and families. Cam's passing just six months later ignited a passion in me to fight this life shattering disease. Last year, I had the privilege and honor of serving as Club XC's family relations chair. This means I got to work with our three incredible families in helping our team to support them in anyway possible.
The Kaufman, Fisher, and Potter families are this team's ultimate source of inspiration. We get to give them love and support in each of their journeys with cancer, yet somehow they end up giving us back an even greater gift. They've added joy, encouragement, faith and friendship to our lives. Justin, Gideon, and Corban have shown great courage in their journeys and we will continue to fight cancer alongside them. Consider donating to THON today, so that every child has the chance to grow up!
