So that every child can experience growing up...

Our committee, Apple Bottom Genes, is taking action in the fight against childhood cancer. As one of 21 OPPerations committees, we are responsible for the set-up and tear-down of all THON events throughout the year, including the THON 5K, Family Carnival, and THON Weekend! The OPPerations committee works to ensure that all facilities remain safe and clean for all children, families, and volunteers at these events. During THON Weekend, we are the First In and the Last Out of the Bryce Jordan Center, responsible for transforming the BJC into the home of THON that we know and love.

THON is a student-run philanthropy committed to enhancing the lives of children and families impacted by childhood cancer. With 25 dedicated committee members on Apple Bottom Genes, we aim to share THON's mission with fellow Penn State students, friends, family, co-workers, and many others to express our commitment to the fight against cancer. Our efforts will continue to strengthen, until the day we can all dance in celebration of a cure to childhood cancer.

Quotes from the Committee:

"I THON so that kids can be kids."

"I THON for more smiles and laughs."

"I THON for the kids."

When you decide to support THON™, you become a partner in the ongoing fight against childhood cancer. As part of our committee benefitting THON, we are working alongside 16,500 student volunteers and over 25,000 alumni to support more than 4,000 families at Penn State Health Children’s Hospital to one day end the fight against childhood cancer.  Since THON’s beginning in 1973, we have raised over $190 million dollars, For The Kids®!

This year, we are taking action in the fight against childhood cancer. we are fundraising on behalf of my committee benefitting THON to offset the costs of treatment that insurance cannot, cover expenses that improve the welfare of kids, and fund critical research in pursuit of finding a cure. We are committed to enhancing the lives of children and families impacted by childhood cancer as well as building lasting relationships with the Four Diamonds families, and it is our hope that one day every child has the opportunity to live out their childhood dreams.

Your contribution will fund innovative research that is will not only enhance treatment for children in Pennsylvania, but will also give hope to childhood cancer patients worldwide! Together, with every student, volunteer, alumnus, donor, and supporter, we can spread awareness of THON’s mission across the country and throughout the world. With your support of THON, together, we will make a difference in the lives of children nationwide. Join us in the fight, For The Kids.
