A LITTLE ABOUT ME

Last year as a freshmen, I initiated my commitment to turn childhood dreams into realities with THON!!! This year I will be completing my fundraising efforts through the Association for PrePediatric Specialties (APPS) once again! APPS is a professional organization at Penn State for students interested in pursuing a career in medical pediatrics.

I am currently majoring in Human Development and Family Studies. Post graduation, I am planning on continuing to higher education to achieve my Doctorate in Occupational Therapy. I am interested in both Pediatric and Neonatal Occupation Therapy. Supporting and helping children through their toughest battles is what I aspire to do and THON gives me the opportunity to do that by ensuring families, going through the battle of Childhood Cancer, know that they are not alone in this fight!!!!

I THON for The Families! The Fight! The Cure! & FOR THE KIDS!

WHAT IS THON?

THON is the largest student-run philanthropy! THON works to provide both financial and emotional support for families facing childhood cancer. Our year-long efforts culminate in a 46-hour, no-sitting, no-sleeping dance marathon each February to celebrate our survivors, remember those we’ve lost, and take a stand--all in hopes of one day dancing in celebration of a cure. With safety and health in mind, this years COVID-19 Pandemic will not allow for an in-person THON. However, that doesn't mean we can't work together virtual FTK!

OUR IMPACT!

Since 1977, THON has raised over $180 million for Four Diamonds at Penn State Children’s Hospital. This means that through our fundraising efforts we have helped provide comprehensive care for 4,000 families and fund critical research to take OUR FIGHT beyond central Pennsylvania and SPREAD HOPE AROUND THE WORLD!

BY THE NUMBERS!

  •           The average cost of cancer treatment for one child: $500,000
  •           The average cost of a hospital stay per day: $40,000
  •           The average cost of newly approved cancer drugs per month: $10,000

FTK!

Every school day, 43 school children are diagnosed with cancer. There are more than 12 types of pediatric cancer and over 100 subtypes.
