 What THON Means To Me

My fight For The Kids actually began before PSU, when I was on our High School's THON committee. I was then involved with THON at Penn State for 5 years as an undergraduate student, with an organization called A-7.  I loved everything about it, from fundraising sales to shaving my head every year for "No Hair, Don't Care". When you walk into that BJC on a late February weekend, you can feel the joy, hear laughter, and see endless smiles on the faces of all. A-7 and I unfortunately lost our THON child, Karim, two years ago. I never got to meet him in person, and it is something I wish I could go back and change everyday. I will never forget Karim being the star of the talent show with his water bottle flipping act. Everyone screamed and he rocked that BJC. These children look forward to that weekend, for moments like this. Karim was, and still is, a huge inspiration for me.

I knew from that first glimpse of THON that this is a fight I want to fight forever. I want to help bring those smiles to the faces of children, and help them one day dance cancer-free. Please help me fight this fight by donating to my page. Anything helps, no amount is ever too little! Let's fight to make a change. Let's fight for Karim. Let's fight For The Kids!!
