Growing up is a beautiful thing. Let’s fight for it.
Hi friends and family! Thank you for visiting my THON DonorDrive page! Here, you can learn more about THON, my personal involvement, and how you can get involved in supporting my organization, Ayuda.
This year, I am uniting with 16,500 student volunteers and over 25,000 alumni supporters in the fight against childhood cancer through THON. Our year-long efforts culminate in a 46-hour, no-sitting, no-sleeping dance marathon each February to celebrate our survivors, remember those we’ve lost, and take a stand--all in hopes of one day dancing in celebration of a cure. Even though THON may look a little different this year, we know that it is more than just one weekend. It is a year-long effort that we will carry on no matter the circumstances. Childhood cancer does not stop, and neither will we.
Throughout the year, I will be fundraising to benefit THON in an effort to provide outstanding financial and emotional support and spread THON’s mission world-wide. It is my hope that one day, every child will have the opportunity to live out their dreams.
Since 1977, THON has raised over $157 million for Four Diamonds at Penn State Children’s Hospital, providing comprehensive care for 4,000 families and fund critical research to take our fight beyond central Pennsylvania and spread hope around the world. We work year-round to provide both financial and emotional support for our families, ensuring that they never have to face cancer alone.
As you all may already know, THON has been an incredibly important part of my life for many years now. Ever since I was in high school, I knew I wanted to get involved with THON. After I watched my older sister, Alyssa, become involved in her organization, Ayuda, and stand for 46 hours in THON 2015, I knew that THON was going to be something very special to me. In 2017, I was eager to begin my THON involvement and took initiative in starting my high school's very first Mini-THON. In that year, we raised over $11,000 in my small community for the kids. It was truly my dream to continue my involvement in THON as a student at Penn State. I am so incredibly grateful to be where I am today, living out that dream!
I became involved in THON at Penn State by joining Ayuda, a special interest organization whose sole purpose is to fundraise for THON throughout the year. Through my involvement with Ayuda, I am so grateful to have served on the executive board for the past 3 years as the Family Relations Chair. I may be a little biased, but I think that I have the best position - and through this position, I get to aid in supporting our amazing paired Four Diamonds Family, the Ayden Gora Family.
After forming my relationship with the Goras over the past two years as Ayuda’s Family Relations Chair, I began to understand THON on a deeper level. The Gora Family truly inspires me everyday with their strength, wisdom, and positive outlooks despite the adversities they may face. Their children, Ayden and Zayla, have been through more at their young ages than many of us will ever have to go through. Nonetheless, they continue to smile, play and imagine; as all kids should have the chance to do. Their contagious laughs and incredible bravery are strongest reminder to me of why I want to become more involved with THON.
In 2019, I was also granted the opportunity of a lifetime to stand for 46 hours as a dancer in THON representing Ayuda. This experience was truly life changing, and I am committed to spreading THON’s mission even further in 2021. With your continued support, we can help to ensure that all children’s lives are shaped by beautiful moments. Please consider joining us in the fight against childhood cancer today by making a gift to THON in the name of Ayuda.
I truly appreciate any support you provide, either by making a donation or by sharing my page on social media to spread THON’s mission.
