I THON for the families: to celebrate their victories and honor their angels.
Welcome to my DonorDrive page! My name is Mary and I am currently a senior at Penn State, making this my fourth THON! There are a lot of things I have come to love about Penn State during my four years here, but there is nothing that even comes close to my love for THON. Nothing makes me more proud to call myself a Penn Stater than seeing virtually everyone in the Penn State community come together for a cause as amazing as THON!
THON is a year-long fundraiser that ends in a 46-hour, no-sitting, no-sleeping dance marathon each February to celebrate our survivors, remember those we’ve lost, and take a stand--all in hopes of one day dancing in celebration of a cure. All of the funds raised throughout the year benefit Four Diamonds at Penn State Children's Hospital in Hershey. Four Diamonds ensures that all families that are cared for by the cancer unit at Hershey will never receive a single bill. This allows families to focus on what really matters, being there for their children! Four Diamonds also provides world-class care including incredible psychological and social services in addition to excellent medical care. On top of all that, they also fund groundbreaking research in the field of childhood cancer!
This year I have the incredible honor to serve as Phi Beta Lambda's Family Relations Chair. This means that I get the opportunity to form a special relationship with both of Phi Beta Lambda's paired families, the Parhams and the Harmons! I think that this is the most special part of THON because it lasts long after the financial support and has a far bigger impact. The THON community is always here for the families, to celebrate the victories and honor the angels.
I could not be more proud to be a part of this incredible organization and I would be eternally grateful for any support you can provide as I try to further THON's mission!
