Growing up is a beautiful thing. Let’s fight for it.
Hi family and friends! My name is Kristen Schwab and I am a member of the Penn State Club Volleyball THON organization.
THON is the largest student-run philanthropy in the world, outstanding by both participation and revenue. It is a 46 hour NO sitting, NO sleeping dance marathon, involving approximately 16,500 students who make this incredible weekend possible. The sole beneficiary of THON’s year-long fundraising efforts is the Four Diamonds, and the mission of the fund is to support families impacted by childhood cancer emotionally and financially. Since 1977, THON has raised over $157 million for Four Diamonds at Penn State Children’s Hospital, providing comprehensive care for 4,000 families and fund critical research to take our fight beyond central Pennsylvania and spread hope around the world.
Club Volleyball has two THON families, the Mehalick's and the Patterson's. Makenzie Mehalick was diagnosed with ovarian cancer during her freshman year of high school but being the tough, fearless girl she is, kicked cancer's butt and has been in remission now for several years. Maggie Patterson is our beloved THON angel who passed away four years ago. Her twin sister, Katie, is still very much involved in THON and loves coming each year to remember her sister!
This year I have the privilege of being a dancer for THON 2020 through the Club Volleyball team. I have wanted to dance in THON ever since I experienced my first THON freshman year, so this is a dream come true! Please help me in my efforts to end childhood cancer by donating to THON! I truly appreciate any support you provide, either by making a donation or by sharing my page on social media to spread THON’s mission!
