Growing up is a beautiful thing. Let’s fight for it.

Join us in our commitment to turn childhood dreams into reality by supporting THON. This year, I am taking action by uniting with 16,500 student volunteers & over 25,000 alumni supporters in the fight against childhood cancer. Our year-long efforts will culminate in a 46-hour, no-sitting, no-sleeping dance marathon February 21-23 to celebrate our survivors, remember those we’ve lost, & take a stand--all in hopes of one day dancing in celebration of a cure.

This year, I am fundraising & spreading THON's mission through Penn State Law Benefiting THON. I was extremely involved with THON in undergrad here at Penn State through the Rules & Regulations, Communications, & Dancer Relations committees, & through my dance org, Tapestry Dance Company.

On Tapestry, I served as a Family Relations Chair, alongside my friend, Marissa, for two years. Our "job" was to build a relationship between the members of Tapestry & the members of our beautiful, inspiring THON families. We would keep in contact with them weekly, send them packages, plan FaceTimes with them, plan trips to visit them, plan their THON weekend, & most importantly, let them know how much we love & support them as much as possible.

In THON 2018, I represented Tapestry & our families on the floor by standing for the full 46. It was the most difficult, but humbling thing I have ever done. My short 46 hours of pain was nothing compared to what families & children battling childhood cancer go through every single day. I was constantly inspired & reminded of why I was standing for 46 hours when I would see children running around & having the time of their lives, especially one of our THON children, Leah.

Now, I am in law school, and continuing my passion through Penn State Law Benefiting THON. I THON so that kids can be kids. Childhood is supposed to be about innocence, curiosity, fun, & laughter - not hospitals & treatments. My dancer shirt said, "FoRmorewonders," because we should never be stripped of the millions of wonders children have every day.

Since 1977, THON has raised over $157 million for Four Diamonds at Penn State Children’s Hospital, providing comprehensive care for 4,000 families & funding critical research to take our fight beyond central Pennsylvania & spread hope around the world. We work year-round to provide both financial & emotional support for our families, ensuring that they never have to face cancer alone.

I truly appreciate any support you provide, either by making a donation or by sharing my page on social media to help spread THON’s mission.

FTK,

Ashley Passarello
