Support Me
Growing up is a beautiful thing. Let's fight for it!

Hi Everyone! This year, my organization, CB's Rookies, will be uniting with 16,500 other PSU student volunteers and over 25,000 alumni supporters in the fight against childhood cancer by raising money for THON! THON is a 46-hour, no-sitting, no-sleeping dance marathon held each February at Penn State to celebrate our survivors, remember those we’ve lost, and take a stand--all in hopes of one day dancing in celebration of a cure.

A Little About CB's Rookies

CB's Rookies is a student-run service organization at Penn State University. Our mission is to connect students with disabilities to our community at Penn State. Our members visit local schools once a month and work with special education classes by creating fun and engaging activities for the students that foster academic and personal growth. Following these visits, the students and their families are invited to join us on our campus for a sporting event once each season. By doing so, we hope to allow all participating members the opportunity to become a greater part of our community. As of last year, CB's Rookies became a THON affiliated organization and now we work year long to fundraise FTK!

A Little About THON

Since 1977, THON has raised over $157 million for Four Diamonds at Penn State Children’s Hospital, providing comprehensive care for 4,000 families and fund critical research to take our fight beyond central Pennsylvania and spread hope around the world. We work year-round to provide both financial and emotional support for our families, ensuring that they never have to face cancer alone.

All of the money raised goes directly towards impacting the lives of children and families battling childhood cancer. The money provides medical coverage for each patient (chemotherapy, spinal taps, bone marrow transplants, blood tests, etc.), financial support (medications, gas cards, cafeteria cards, etc.), and medical team support (oncologists, child life specialists, etc.). A complete list of positions funded solely by Four Diamonds funds can be found on their website but some include: Music Therapists, Clinical Research Specialists, Social Workers, Clinical Dieticians, and Pastoral Services.

About 70% of the funds go towards innovative research. Because of this, in the 1960s, a child diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (or ALL) had a 5-year survival rate of less than 10%; however, today the survival rate is close to 90%!

Throughout all four years of my college career I have been very passionate about being involved in THON. My first two years I provided emotional and physical support to the dancers and their families through my position as a Dancer Relations Committee Member and these last two have been dedicated to raising funds through CB's Rookies. I truly appreciate any support you provide, either by making a donation or by sharing this page on social media to spread THON’s mission. Thank you so much!
