Growing up is a beautiful thing. Let’s fight for it.

Join us in our commitment to turn childhood dreams into reality by supporting THON. This year, I am taking action by uniting with 16,500 student volunteers and over 25,000 alumni supporters in the fight against childhood cancer. Our year-long efforts culminate in a 46-hour, no-sitting, no-sleeping dance marathon each February to celebrate our survivors, remember those we’ve lost, and take a stand--all in hopes of one day dancing in celebration of a cure.

This year, my friend Gianna and I will be working hard to try and fundraise as an Independent Dancer Couple (IDC) for THON 2020! This means we are pairing up as our own organization, "Gianna Merlino and Claire Reichelt" to try and fundraise for the potential opportunity to be selected as dancers for THON 2020 this February!  We are super excited to try and fundraise for the opportunity to dance for 46 hours, For The Kids!

We are both very passionate about THON and all the amazing ways it supports Four Diamonds at Penn State Children's Hospital and all of the Four Diamond families! This opportunity means so much more to us than just our potential to dance and experience those amazing 46 hours on the floor of the Bryce Jordan Center. Although we would be honored to be chosen to dance, this opportunity means so much more to us. The opportunity  to fundraise and spread awareness is so special to us, aside from dancing in THON. Our goals are to make an impact in the lives of these brave families through our fundraising, and ensure that no child/family has to fight this horrible disease alone.

Since 1977, THON has raised over $157 million for Four Diamonds at Penn State Children’s Hospital, providing comprehensive care for 4,000 families and fund critical research to take our fight beyond central Pennsylvania and spread hope around the world. We work year-round to provide both financial and emotional support for our families, ensuring that they never have to face cancer alone.

This fall, I am studying abroad in Valencia, Spain, and not being able to volunteer and take part in pre-THON events has been hard for me. I have been a volunteer for Penn State THON over the last two years, and being able to work with so many genuine people that are passionate about supporting those affected by childhood cancer and trying to move towards a future where cancer does not exist truly inspires me. My freshman year I was on a Hospitality Committee for THON weekend and last year is was on a Dancer Relations Committee for THON weekend, and I loved being a volunteer on both of these committees so much! Being a THON volunteer is something so special. THON is truly an amazing organization. made up of the greatest people, dedicated to doing beautiful things, and I miss it so much!

It is my hope that one day, every child will have the opportunity to live out their dreams!

This year I hope to be able to raise more money than ever, FTK! I truly appreciate any support you provide, making a donation or by sharing my page on social media to spread THON’s mission would mean so much!
