Make an impact in the life of a child today

When you decide to support THON™, you become a partner in the ongoing fight against childhood cancer. As part of my organization benefitting THON, I am working alongside 16,500 student volunteers and over 25,000 alumni to support more than 4,000 families at Penn State Children’s Hospital to one day end the fight against childhood cancer.  Since THON’s beginning in 1973, we have raised over $168 million dollars, For The Kids™!

This year, I am taking action in the fight against childhood cancer. Throughout the year, I am fundraising on behalf of my organization benefitting THON to offset the costs of treatment that insurance cannot cover, expenses that improve the welfare of kids, and fund critical research in pursuit of finding a cure. I am committed to enhancing the lives of children and families impacted by childhood cancer as well as building lasting relationships with the Four Diamonds families, and it is my hope that one day every child has the opportunity to live out their childhood dreams.

As someone who was raised in a Penn State family, THON is something I grew up learning about and loving. When I was ten years-old, my sister, Kylie, was selected to dance independently at THON. Not only did her selection change her life, but it also made a profound impact on my life as well. THON 2008 is a weekend I will always remember fondly – supporting the dancers, learning the line dance, and looking on in awe as the Bryce Jordan Center swelled to capacity all in an effort to support families affected by pediatric cancer.

Fast forward to today, and THON has been a formative part of my Penn State experience, shaping me into the person I am today. THON has taught me the importance of dedication to and whole-hearted belief in a cause. My family has had our own personal brush with pediatric cancer, but we are lucky enough to be decades removed from that experience. Despite this, pediatric cancer can have a long-lasting effect on a family, and THON serves as a network of support for Four Diamonds families no matter what leg of the journey they are on. I cannot overstate the impact that THON as an organization has on each and every Four Diamonds Family as well as in the fight against pediatric cancer at-large. THON is an incredibly special organization to me, and I am honored to serve as an Entertainment Captain during my final year as a student at this university.

Your contribution will fund innovative research that will not only enhance treatment for children in Pennsylvania but is also giving hope to childhood cancer patients worldwide! Together, with every student, volunteer, alumnus, donor, and supporter, we can spread awareness of THON’s mission across the country and throughout the world. With your support of THON, together, we will make a difference in the lives of children nationwide. Join us in the fight, For The Kids.
