THON season is here!! Once again I will be raising money for pediatric cancer in the hopes that one day no child or family will have to face the difficulties of pediatric cancer treatment. THON is a 46-hour no sleeping, no sitting dance marathon held in February every year at Penn State in support of pediatric cancer research and awareness.
As a current student in the College of Nursing at Penn State, I will spend a whole academic year at Milton S. Hershey Medical Center my junior year of college in order to grow and learn as a nurse. The Hershey Medical Center is the location where THON children receive their treatment.
As a future nurse, I hope to have an even greater impact on the lives of people struggling with cancer. Oncology is a speciality I have been considering for some time, which makes the impact THON has even more important to me.
This year, I will be raising money as a THON chair in my sorority Phi Sigma Sigma. We are so excited to start fundraising for our favorite cause!! Although THON isn’t until February, we get to start raising money for pediatric cancer patients and research right now. For the next couple months, Phi Sigma Sigma and our THON partners Alpha Gamma Rho will be working together to raise awareness and money for children battling cancer. We need your help to have the greatest impact possible.
