Make a difference in the life of a child today

Phi Chi Theta  is united with 16,500 student volunteers in raising funds and awareness to combat childhood cancer. Since 1977, THON has raised over $204 million for Four Diamonds at Penn State Health Children's Hospital. Through this partnership, over 4,800 families have been relieved from the burden of medical bills. The groundbreaking research conducted at Penn State is making a global impact, bringing us closer to finding a cure. Every February, THON's efforts culminate in a 46-hour, no-sitting, no-sleeping dance marathon—an event that brings together our community in support of these families. By contributing, you will join a movement committed to conquering childhood cancer.

About Phi Chi Theta

Last year, we raised $246,266, making us the top fundraising general organization at THON. Our chapter’s continued efforts directly support research and families through Four Diamonds, ensuring no family sees a medical bill during their child’s treatment.

Meet our Families

The Jackie Mazur Family

Jackie Mazur was diagnosed with Ewing’s sarcoma at 18, and later with leukemia. A former Phi Chi Theta member, Jackie was determined to become a pediatric oncology nurse to help children like her. She battled courageously until she passed, leaving behind a legacy of strength and love. We have been paired with the Mazur family since 2005 and continue to honor Jackie’s memory.

The Leiland Smith Family

Leiland Smith, born on February 9th, 2015, was diagnosed with Langerhans Cell Histiocytosis shortly after birth. After battling the disease and suffering a stroke that affected his right side, he has been in remission since January 2018. Leiland loves Penn State Football, soccer, and spending time with his Phi Chi Theta friends. We’ve been paired with the Smith family since 2016.

The Savion Atterberry Family

Savion Atterberry was diagnosed with Guillain Barre Syndrome at age 3, and later with Rhabdomyosarcoma at age 8. His love for superheroes and his idol, John Cena, shone through his battle. Though Savion passed away, we continue to honor him every year during THON weekend by wearing “Fly High Savi” shirts. We've been paired with the Atterberry family since 2011.

The Vivienne Connor Family

Vivienne Connor, born on June 4th, 2007, is a passionate athlete and explorer. She’s been in remission and recently joined our Phi Chi Theta family in 2024. Vivienne is involved with Mini THON at her high school and will be running the Philly Half Marathon in November. Her strength and spirit inspire us all!

Join us in making a difference. Together, we can conquer childhood cancer.
