MAKE A DONATION

Make a difference in the life of a child today

Hi, I’m Chelsea Birkel and I am a senior at Penn State, University Park.

I am so excited to announce my start in my IDC (Independent Dancer Couple) with my best friend to get a chance to  dance in THON 2024🎗️

A little about me:

I have been involved in the THON community as soon as I stepped foot on campus my freshman year in a committee. I instantly felt at home surrounded by like-mind people with such huge hearts fighting to end childhood care. Since, I have continued my THON journey in working in partnership with the Red Cross to highlight to need for blood donations for cancer patients.

I THON for bigger smiles and the chance for every kid to live out their wildest dreams. I THON for everyone affected by this disease no matter the impact it has on their life and their loved ones.

Hello, my name is Alicia Armstrong and I am a senior at Penn State trying to dance in THON 2024🎗️

I will be running as an IDC (independent dancer couple) with my best friend Chelsea!

A little about me:

I come from a THON family. My brother, Tommy, was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer when he was 10 months old and then finished chemotherapy in June of 1997. I have gone to Thon since 2003 and have met some incredible people. One of those people was a little boy named Jed who was one of my first best friends who unfortunately did not beat his battle. THON is the reason I chose to come to Penn State.

I Thon for my brother and for Jed. I THON so kids can be kids and to raise awareness of the difficulties that comes with childhood cancer.

Help save the lives of children battling cancer by supporting THON. Alicia Armstrong and Chelsea Birkel (2024) is taking action by uniting with 16,500 student volunteers to raise funds and awareness in the fight against childhood cancer. Since 1977, THON has raised over $204 million for Four Diamonds at Penn State Health Children's Hospital. Throughout our partnership, we have ensured that over 4,800 families have not seen a single medical bill. In addition, the local research that is being done is making a global impact so that one day, we will find a cure. Each February, THON's yearlong efforts and support for the families culminate in a 46-hour, no-sitting, no-sleeping dance marathon. By supporting THON, you will be joining a community committed to conquering childhood cancer.
