Help save the lives of children battling cancer by supporting THONTM. Our organization, A-7, is taking action by uniting with 16,500 student volunteers to raise funds and awareness in the fight against childhood cancer. Since 1977, THONTM has raised over $200 million for Four Diamonds at Penn State Health Children's Hospital. Last year we raised $537,435.53 and this year we aim to raise even more, For the Kids.
A-7 is a Special Interest Organization at Penn State whose sole purpose is to support THON™ and our Four Diamonds Families. In 2014 we were paired with The Bectach Family through the Adopt-A-Family program. Since then our organization has spent a lot of time getting to know the family and continues to work to support them in the best way possible.
Our THON child, Karim, was diagnosed with cancer in his spine in December 2012 and began chemo treatment. Although he was given a 12-18 month prognosis, he battled for 6 years. Karim always kept a smile on his face and had great strength every step of the way. He left an impact on every person he met, and never let his diagnosis drag him down. In May 2018, when Karim was 13 years old, his fight came to an end. Even though we miss him dearly, we treasure the time we spent with him and the memories made.
