Family Relations works to support our families throughout their interactions with THON and beyond. Additionally, we strive to inspire the THON community by creating opportunities for meaningful engagements with our families that ensure that volunteers feel truly connected to our mission. Family Relations supports a variety of programs that help engage committee volunteers and organizations alike in connecting with our families. One of the primary programs facilitated by the Family Relations Committee is the Adopt-A-Family Program, an initiative that pairs families with student organizations to develop deep relationships. Additionally, the Family Relations Committee works to plan various Pre-THON events, helping to plan family-specific components of general Pre-THON events, and organizes a variety of events and opportunities for THON Weekend. Additionally, Family Relations is responsible for supporting all of our families regardless of treatment status, and we recognize that each of our families is different and requires varying levels of support. Within the Family Relations Committee there are positions dedicated to supporting bereaved families, teen and adult families, and new families within the THON Community. This year, the THON Community is in an exciting place. After bringing THON home and celebrating fifty years of magic moments, we are now in the position to grow and inspire the next fifty years of this organization. We will try new things, and occasionally we will fail with grace. We will constantly learn and recognize our shortcomings. We will be faced with obstacles and work to overcome. And in each moment we will work to FosteR Limitless Love
Help save the lives of children battling cancer by supporting THONTM. Our committee, THON Family Relations, is taking action by uniting with 16,500 student volunteers to raise funds and awareness in the fight against childhood cancer. Since 1977, THONTM has raised over $200 million for Four Diamonds at Penn State Health Children's Hospital. Throughout our partnership, we have ensured that over 4,000 families have not seen a single medical bill. In addition, the local research that is being done is making a global impact so that one day, we will find a cure. Each February, THON's yearlong efforts and support for the families culminate in a 46-hour, no-sitting, no-sleeping dance marathon.
