MAKE A DONATION

Make a difference in the life of a child

Every year Women in Business participates in the largest run student philanthropy in the world, known as the Penn State Dance Marathon (THON™). Our organization is taking action by uniting with 16,500 student volunteers to raise funds and awareness in the fight against childhood cancer. Since 1977, THON™ has raised over $200 million for Four Diamonds at Penn State Health Children's Hospital. Throughout our partnership, we have ensured that over 4,000 families have not seen a single medical bill. In addition, the local research that is being done is making a global impact so that one day, we will find a cure. Each February, THON's yearlong efforts and support for the families culminate in a 46-hour, no-sitting, no-sleeping dance marathon.

WIB plans various fundraisers throughout the year leading up to THON weekend to connect with alumni, family, friends, and corporations to assist in our goal of helping to find a cure for pediatric cancer and to help pay for all children's treatments and family related expenses. As of this past year, WIB raised a total of $27, 850.86 for THON!

We THON for our two families - the Newcombs and the Corls.

The Newcomb Family: We were paired with the Newcombs right before THON of 2017. Their family includes: Celeste (mom), Brian (dad), Maryann, William (younger brother), and Alex (younger sister). Maryann is our THON child, and she is thankfully cancer-free! Maryann was diagnosed right before her 18th birthday. She was originally supposed to attend Penn State, but was unable to. Maryann went into remission the summer of 2019, and we are thrilled for her!

The Corl Family: We were paired with the Corls in December of 2020. Their family includes: Niki (mom), Bill (dad), Molly, and Elisabeth (younger sister). Molly is our THON child. Molly graduated from high school this past year in 2022 and is attending West Chester University now. She noticed a lump on her neck in April of 2020 and was then diagnosed with cancer. She went into remission in the fall of 2020, and we are so happy for her!

Please consider making a donation to directly impact the lives of children and families impacted by childhood cancer. No matter the size of the donation, any monetary gift can change and save a life.

Women in Business is a Penn State organization that participates in THON™, in addition to our organization's primary purpose. Throughout the year, organizations contribute to the efforts of thousands of Penn State students across all campuses by facilitating fundraisers, as well as providing emotional support to Four Diamond families.
