Make a difference in the life of a child.

Sofia Ardizzone and Alexandra Guarino have been working tirelessly all year with the hopes of being selected to dance in THON Weekend 2021. Independent Dancer Couples are dedicated individuals who set up their own fundraisers throughout the year, and with the support of friends and family, obtain tickets in a lottery system in the hopes of earning a spot as dancers in the Penn State Dance Marathon.
Our IDC, Sofia Ardizzone and Alexandra Guarino, is taking action by uniting with 16,500 student volunteers to raise funds and awareness in the fight against childhood cancer. Since 1977, THONTM has raised over $190 million for Four Diamonds at Penn State Children's Health Hospital. Throughout our partnership, we have ensured that over 4,000 families have not seen a single medical bill. In addition, the local research that is being done is making a global impact so that one day, we will find a cure. Each February, THON's yearlong efforts and support for the families culminate in a 46-hour, no-sitting, no-sleeping dance marathon.
Sofia and Alexandra have been extremely dedicated to helping the children and the families impacted by childhood cancer over the past three years. They have had the pleasure of getting to know several Four Diamond families and have been so inspired by their strength and their hope. For both Sofia and Alexandra, THON has been the most rewarding part of their college experiences. They have been able to see the effect that we, as a community, can make on the families' experiences. Every child deserves the chance to live a long and healthy life and they are proud to be involved in a philanthropy that is so much bigger than themselves.
When you think your life is tough or you're having a bad day, go to the nearest children's hospital. If you explain to a child your hardest day, it will not even compare to their easiest day. Because of this, Sofia and Alexandra are passionate and motivated to making a child's day just a little easier. They hope to dance for a cure during THON 2022 so that one day we can all dance in celebration.
By supporting THON™, you will be joining a community committed to conquering childhood cancer.
