Society of Women Engineers Benefiting THON
SWE Benefiting THON is currently paired with two incredible families: the Sullivans and the Plummers.
The Sullivans have been paired with SWE for 8 years now and are a part of our family! Jhonen was diagnosed with leukemia in 2012 but won his battle, and his final treatment was in December of 2015. Jhonen is now 12 years old, just started 7th grade, and continues to be just as entertaining and energetic. He loves drawing and playing around with SWE whenever we interact, both virtually and in person. Along with Jhonen, SWE has also brought his mother Jen, and his two brothers, Zach and Trenton into our family. Trenton is now 11 years old and somehow manages to match Jhonen’s energy level. Zach is the oldest brother and is now 18 years old. He really loves his younger brothers and would do anything for them. We are so grateful to have made such a strong connection with the Sullivans family.

The Plummer family has been paired with SWE since January 2018. Sela was diagnosed with Von Hipple Lindau in 2016 and we continue to support her during her battle. Sela is a third year here at Penn State, studying to be an Architectural Engineer (WOO girl boss!!). She is incredibly artistic and the sweetest person you will meet. Sela’s mother Kim, father Todd, and brother Max have also joined our SWE family. Max is 18 and just started his first year at Penn Tech studying Diesel Mechanics. We are beyond lucky to have the Plummers!

Make a difference in the life of a child
Help save the lives of children battling cancer by supporting THONTM. Our organization, Society of Women Engineers Benefiting THON, is taking action by uniting with 16,500 student volunteers to raise funds and awareness in the fight against childhood cancer. Since 1977, THONTM has raised over $190 million for Four Diamonds at Penn State Health Children's Hospital. Throughout our partnership, we have ensured that over 4,000 families have not seen a single medical bill. In addition, the local research that is being done is making a global impact so that one day, we will find a cure. Each February, THON's yearlong efforts and support for the families culminate in a 46-hour, no-sitting, no-sleeping dance marathon.
By supporting THON™, you will be joining a community committed to conquering childhood cancer.
Society of Women Engineers Benefiting THON is a Penn State organization that participates in THON™, in addition to our organization's primary purpose. Throughout the year, Organizations contribute to the efforts of thousands of Penn State students across all campuses by facilitating fundraisers, as well as providing emotional support to Four Diamonds Families.
