Life Is A Beautiful Thing, Lets Fight For It!

Help save the lives of children battling cancer by supporting THONTM. Our organization, Club Cross Country, is taking action by uniting with 16,500 student volunteers to raise funds and awareness in the fight against childhood cancer. Since 1977, THONTM has raised over $180 million for Four Diamonds at Penn State Children's Hospital. Throughout our partnership, we have ensured that over 4,000 families have not seen a single medical bill. In addition, the local research that is being done is making a global impact so that one day, we will find a cure. Each February, THON's yearlong efforts culminate in a 46-hour, no-sitting, no-sleeping dance marathon.
By supporting THON, you will be joining a community committed to conquering childhood cancer.

Club Cross Country is a Penn State organization that participates in THON, in addition to our organization's primary purpose, running. THON is a huge part of Club Cross Country and we absolutely love spending time with our families! Club XC is paired with three amazing families: the Potters, the Fishers and the Kaufmans. Our families are why we THON! We are incredibly lucky to have such loving families who brighten our lives so much! Our familes are so supportive of our running events as well and often times surprise us at our meets and bring us cookies to practice! We love meeting our families at the Creamery for ice cream, cheering them on at soccer games or cross country meets, going on hikes together, hanging out at Get-Air and eatin Chick-fil-A. Our Club XC family would not be the same with the Potters, the Fishers and the Kaufmans.

Club Cross Country's largest fundraiser of the year is called Miles for Smiles. Miles for Smiles is a 46-hour treadmill marathon that takes place at the end of January, just a couple weeks before THON weekend! Friday night, our first runner starts us off, then after a 60 or 30-minute shift, a new runner will hop on the treadmill. This process will continue through Sunday afternoon, until we have completed 46 hours of running. Last year, we held the event in an on-campus building at raised $62,000, all For The Kids®. Miles for Smiles is one of the best weekends of the year and is a time Club XC runs with a big purpose and a whole lot of love!

We thank you in advance for your generosity -- you are making the difference in the life of a child battling childhood cancer!
