Make a difference in the life of a child.

As the largest student run philanthropy in the world, THON’s mission is to provide emotional and financial support, spread awareness and ensure funding for critical research in pursuit of a cure for pediatric cancer. Our Organization, Phi Epsilon Kappa, is taking action with over 16,500 student volunteers to unite in the fight. THON has ensured that over 4,000 families have not seen a single medical bill from their child's illness. In addition, the local research that is being done is making a global impact so that one day, we will find a cure. Each year in February, these efforts culminate in a 46 hour, no sitting, no sleeping, Dance Marathon (THON). Since 1977, THON has raised over $168 million for its sole beneficiary, the Four Diamonds at Penn State Children's Hospital.

Phi Epsilon Kappa, or PEK, is Penn State's newest and only professional fraternity for students in health professions! PEK was created in the fall of 2018 by 10 individuals who wanted to expand a national chapter that focuses on service, expanding professional networks, fostering friendships among students in similar career paths, and encouraging leadership. THON's mission alligns with the goals of our fraternity as we hope to continue to advance the medical field and foster scientific research as well as give back to a greater community. It is our first year fundraising for THON and donations this year will allow us to get dancers in the future. We are already quickly growing on campus and have over 50 active members and a few alumni. As we continue to expand, we hope to one day be paired with a Four Diamond's family.

Last year, two of our very own danced in THON! Krista Helveston, a senior majoring in Biobehavioral Health and our Pledge Mom, danced as a part of Omega Phi Alpha. Jacob May, a junior majoring in Biobehavioral Health and our primary THON Chair, danced independently with his older brother! Both Krista and Jacob want to go on to PA school after graduation. Dancing last year was definitely one of the best experiences of their lives!

Several of our other members are involved with THON as members of committees and/or other orgs! Many of them dream of dancing one day as well. Your support can help their dreams come true and bring us one step closer to conquering childhood cancer.

Phi Epsilon Kappa is a Penn State organization that participates in THON, in addition to our organization's primary purpose. Throughout the year, Organizations contribute to the efforts of thousands of Penn State students across all campuses by facilitating fundraisers, as well as providing emotional support to Four Diamonds Families.
