THON Special Events

Join us on February 21, 2020

Make a difference in the life of a child.

The Special Events Committee is taking action by uniting with 16,500 student volunteers to raise funds and awareness in the fight against childhood cancer. Since 1977, THON has raised over $168 million for Four Diamonds at Penn State Childrenā€™s Hospital. Throughout our partnership, we have ensured that over 4,000 families have not seen a single medical bill. In addition, the local research that is being done is making a global impact so that one day, we will find a cure.  Each February, THON's yearlong efforts and support for the families culminate in a 46-hour, no-sitting, no-sleeping dance marathon.
By supporting THON, you will be joining a community committed to conquering childhood cancer.
The mission of the Special Events Committee is to inspire, inform, and unite the THON community by developing and continuing a variety of events to spread the spirit of THON year-round. This mission is accomplished by a group of passionate, creative, and driven volunteers who are dedicated to impacting the lives of children and families impacted by childhood cancer through the planning and execution of these events. The Special Events committee is responsible for all Penn State THON Athletic Events, THON 5K, 100 Days 'Til THON Celebration, Family Carnival, Closer to a Cure Celebration, The THON Showcase, and several other events that help spread of the mission of THON year-round.
