Growing up is a beautiful thing. Let’s fight for it.

Join us in our commitment to turn childhood dreams into reality by supporting THONTM. Our Organization, Impact, is taking action by uniting with 16,500 student volunteers and over 25,000 alumni supporters in the fight against childhood cancer. Our year-long efforts culminate in a 46-hour, no-sitting, no-sleeping dance marathon each February to celebrate our survivors, remember those we’ve lost, and take a stand--all in hopes of one day dancing in celebration of a cure.
Since 1977, THON has raised over $157 million for Four Diamonds at Penn State Children’s Hospital, providing comprehensive care for 4,000 families and funding critical research to take this fight beyond central Pennsylvania and spread hope around the world. We work year-round to provide both financial and emotional support for our families, ensuring that they never have to face cancer alone.

Impact was founded in 2009 by a very small group of determined residents of the second floor in Beaver Hall. This group of about 5 members formed what came to be the very small independent organization benefiting Penn State's Dance Marathon...IMPACT! Since then, Impact has grown to an organization size of about 50 active members, raised thousands of dollars annually to help fight pediatric cancer, and most importantly, has been partnered with a Four Diamonds Family. The Jeremy Hawk Family.

The Jeremy Hawk Family

Jeremy Hawk is a 17-year-old fearless jokester with a posterior fossa brain tumor, a grade-1 pilocytic astrocytoma originating in the brain stem. Jeremy has a bubbly sister Erin, and superhero-parents Lynn and Jim. Being partnered with The Jeremy Hawk Family has changed the lives of all Impact members, old and new alike, that have been blessed to meet and spend time with them. Being a part of this family's journey as Jeremy fights pediatric cancer is an indescribable and incomparable experience for Impact. Their strength, optimism, and unity as a family has been truly inspiring to Impact members lucky enough to witness their triumphs thus far. The Hawk Family is the epitome of The Four Diamonds: Courage, Honesty, Wisdom, and perhaps most of all, Strength. Our passion as an organization is not only to fundraise to help fight pediatric cancer, but also to relieve some of the stress and anxiety brought on by a cancer diagnosis. At the end of the day, while Impact takes pride in every dollar raised For The Cure, it means more to be able to put a smile on Jeremy's face, and to truly be a part of The Hawk Family.

Special Interest Organizations play a key role in helping THON fulfill its mission of conquering childhood cancer. Impact is a Special Interest Organization at Penn State whose sole purpose is to support THON and our Four Diamonds Families. Throughout the year, Special Intereset Organizations contribute to the efforts of thousands of Penn State students by facilitating fundraisers and providing emotional support to our families.
