Growing up is a beautiful thing. Let’s fight for it.

"Axis aims to set the standard of hard work and persistence in the fight against childhood cancer. With passion and dedication, our mission is to support the Calvanelli family, surpass our fundraising goals, and build lasting relationships - for the kids and for a cure."

Axis is a special-interest organization at Penn State, meaning our organization was founded with the sole purpose of fundraising for THON. Axis was created in 2011 to "set the standard" of hard work and persistence in the fight against childhood cancer. Above everything, we put an emphasis on remembering why we participate in THON and the families it benefits. We aim to set goals that will truly stretch our limitations and surpass others' expectations, so that one day we can dance in celebration of a cure!

Axis is very lucky to be paired with the Calvanelli family, who we support year-round! Our Four Diamonds child, Ayrton, was diagnosed with a brain tumor at only 2 years old. We are beyond happy to be able to say that he is in remission, but it's important to note that Ayrton and his family continue to face more adversity than most of us will in our lifetime. Now at 10 years old, Ayrton loves baseball, hockey, and golf! His younger brother, Declan, is 5 years old and is involved in karate and baseball, and is going to start playing lacrosse this year! Our "THON Mom", Nicole, organizes her local Democrats organization and practices minimalism! We constantly look forward to visiting them throughout the year and love being paired with such an incredible family!

Help save the lives of children battling cancer by supporting THONTM. Our Organization, Axis, is taking action by uniting with 16,500 student volunteers to raise funds and awareness in the fight against childhood cancer. Since 1977, THONTM has raised over $168 million for Four Diamonds at Penn State Children's Hospital. Throughout our partnership, we have ensured that over 4,000 families have not seen a single medical bill. In addition, the local research that is being done is making a global impact so that one day, we will find a cure. Each February, THON's yearlong efforts and support for the families culminate in a 46-hour, no-sitting, no-sleeping dance marathon.
By supporting THON, you will be joining a community committed to conquering childhood cancer.
